Sizzling Hot Book's Review of The Soul Dealer: Deception by Yolanda Sfetsos

The Soul Dealer: Deception by Yolanda Sfetsos

5 HEARTS

Yolanda Sfetsos took a great idea and ran with it, turning it into a killer story. The Soul Dealer: Deception is a great spooky Halloween story.
When someone is killed too suddenly or tragically, there’s a creature ready to bargain for their soul…Fate’s cruel hand took Alana from Matt before he had a chance to tell her how he felt.
A year later, he’s still mourning her loss but Matt doesn’t realize that he hasn’t completely lost her. Yet, he’ll never know how close she really is if he continues to ignore his ability.
Alana has struck a deal that’ll save Matt before the end of All Hallows Eve, but time is running out. And if it does, both of their souls will be lost.
I found Matt to be an interesting character. I loved that he was a demon hunter of sort, and that is how he met Alana. One interesting part about Matt was that his mother conceived him with a ghost. That is something different, and I have never seen it done before. However Yolanda did it in a way that you didn't doubt it was possible.

We don't really get to know Alana that well since she is killed and is mostly a spirit trying to save Matt. But you can feel the love between Alana and Matt. I would have love a little more story with her before she was killed but at the end of The Soul Dealer: Deception we hear a little more about her.

However Cain on the other hand rubbed me the wrong way the whole time. He seemed like such a jerk and couldn't understand why Matt was inseparable from him. I know they met on the streets when they ran away, and that would cause a strong connection but there has to come a time when you just had enough. Cain was a ladies man and somewhat of a womanizer. He picked up a different girl every night, especially the ladies he met through his demon hunting. My biggest problem was that Cain was an insensitive jerk, especially when it came to the loss of Alana.

Overall I loved The Soul Dealer: Deception. It was something different then so many other paranormal romance books out there today. I am excited for The Soul Dealer: Redemption which will be Cain's story.
