25 Days of #HotHolidayHints: Day 1 with Raven McAllan

Welcome to the first day of our new holiday blog feature: 25 Days of Hot Holiday Hints! Each day a different author will share their special holiday hints with you. Be sure to leave a comment for our authors because we are giving away a $5 gift card to one random commenter each day!

Please welcome our first author,  Raven McAllan!

December First…

When I start annoying the family with Christmas Carols, make gluten free mince pies, and pig out.
And check my supply of empty toilet roll holders.

What? You don't save those little cardboard rolls up during November? (And October if you don't use many.) Hey, you're missing out on a great Christmas helper.

If you slit them down the side, and slip them over the opened roll of wrapping paper, it stops the paper decorating the carpet. If you have kids they make a great middle for your home made crackers.

But best of all the loo roll center is a perfect foil for hiding what certain presents are. You can easily slip a pair of socks or undies into one. Packets of sweets are unrecognizable, and a wee miniature bottle is no longer the opening for "ohh is it Whisky (No 'E' I'm Scottish and talking whisky here), or Gin?"
Mind you if your kids are grown up like mine, every present of that certain size and shaped is greeted with laughter, eye rolling and, "Oh is it pants, socks or booze?"

Where ever you are, whatever you celebrate, best wishes and good health to you and yours.

Peregrine's Prize, is now out and ready to download…

They called him Prosy Perry.
Anyone who really knew him—like Maggie did—understood that was a fa├žade to protect his secrets.
When danger threatened his family, and his lover, he dropped the role and the real Peregrine emerged.
Now all he had to do was unmask the traitor and live happily ever after.
Was it going to happen or was he destined to be alone again?

It sounds like Christmas at your house is very interesting. When I wsa a kid growing up my parents would put our presents under the tree early and I would use a knife to open the tape to either see what it was. I was never surprise on Christmas! Loved the excerpt of your book and the cover looks amazing! Hope you and your family a Merry Christmas!

Toilet paper rolls - and paper towel rolls - are also great to toss to the cat and dog so they chase and destroy them vs. them 1) deciding to sit on the wrapping paper and see what you're doing (or not doing with them in the way!) or 2) putting holes in the paper with their paws :)

So gluten free mince pies, I would love to know that recipe. The book sounds great and the cover is quite awesome, but then again Evernight always has awesome covers!
Happy Holidays!
