Hallie Matheson has had the hots for her tenant since he moved in. Gorgeous and rich, Ethan Butler is the thing hot dreams are made of.

Hallie finds a very sick Ethan on her doorstep and helps him, only to have him completely ignore her pleas at his door to see how he is doing. Something is wrong, very wrong.

Investigating vampires has led Ethan to find the fiend he has been looking for. Unfortunately, he was bitten and is now a fiend himself. His feelings for Hallie have never changed. He has wanted her since they met and feels a connection to her that he can't deny. Yet with his newfound "sickness" he is afraid he will hurt her if they get too close. He is willing to make the ultimate sacrifice to make sure she stays safe.

Ms. Ryder succeeds in bringing a vampiric world to life in a unique manner in this story. I am a fan of vampires, and just when I expect there to be nowhere else to go with this storyline, I find myself pleasantly surprised. Sacrifice rolls quite a bit into such a small package. The story evolves quickly and keeps the reader interested.

The relationship between Hallie and Ethan is tumultuous yet sweet. The reader gets a look inside Ethan and I found myself quite drawn to this character. He is sensitive, caring, and will have your heart beating a little quicker. I really enjoyed him.

If you are looking for a quick, easy story with a bit of suspense, this book will do the trick. I enjoy Ms. Ryder’s work, and look forward to reading more.
